Editing and Proofreading

Proofreading is the careful review of your finished manuscript for punctuation, capitalization, spelling, and typographical errors. It may also include comparison with source documents for uniformity or the accuracy of data. Response time and whether data comparison is need will affect pricing.

Formatting refers to style revisions such as page numbers, margins, headings, spacing, indentations/paragraphs, quotes, references, citations, footnotes/endnotes.

Editing goes a step further, including grammar, word usage, and sentence structure; the objective is clarity and consistency of your written product Sentences are analyzed for structure, syntax and style. Long sentences may be separated. Redundancies, inconsistencies, and repetitious wording or writing patterns are removed or highlighted for review. Confusing and awkward paragraphs may be rewritten to enhance readability and achieve greater clarity and effectiveness.


When you have something less than a completed manuscript, such as a new product or service, and no idea what you want to say or how to say it, you need original copy. I offer a broad range of written communications services to meet your needs.


As a professional librarian with an MLS degree, I’m well versed in general reference sources and research methods, and proficient in database & internet searching techniques. If you are in need of research information for an article, book, etc., contact me with the research subject. I will consider any topic of research request. Since each project is unique, fees vary according to the research request and time required.


Any information provided is completely confidential and will not be released to anyone without your specific consent.


Because many factors can affect page count, such as font size, spacing, and margins, I charge by the word. My rates vary according to the type of material and what needs to be done.

The variables involved in the editing and writing process affecting cost include such things as the level of editing required, the complexity of the material, and the turnaround time. I cannot provide an estimate without seeing a sample.

    this “Leave a Reply” form on your Services page was the only way I could contact you! Your website does not list an email address nor does it create an email message. I had to use my ingenuity.
    I included a website above so you could see what type of publications I have created. I did the layout work and created almost all of the covers of the books on that web page (minus the The Tom Lord Discography series listed at the bottom of the page ).
