Yvona writes about a wide variety of topics, including food, cooking, careers,health and fitness for magazines like E: The Environmental Magazine, Adirondack Life, Pacific Sun, Herald on Sunday (NZ), Valley Advocate, Vibrant Life, Equal Opportunity, Minority Engineer, Home Cooking, American Health and Fitness, Woman’s Touch, Health & Home, and Adirondack Explorer.
Her weekly column, North Country Kitchen, offers a medley of nutritional information, historical facts, and easy, seasonal recipes. Her goal is to help the reader prepare wholesome family meals and achieve a healthy lifestyle. It currently runs in the Adirondack Daily Enterprise and the Lake Placid News.
Yvona’s first book, Employment for Individuals with Aserger Syndrome or Non-Verbal Learning Disability: Stories and Strategies , was published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers, 2004. In 2008, the book was translated into Polish with the title, Zespol Aspergera I NLD: problematyka dotyczaca zatrudnienia.
Her second book, My Nine Lives , is co-authored with her mother, Dana Fast, a Holocaust survivor. It was published in 2011 by the Polish Jewish Heritage Foundation of Canada. A Polish language version came out earlier, with the title A jednak sa dobrzy ludzie. An excerpt, Escape from the Ghetto, won honorable mention in the North Country Public Radio writing contest. Yvona speaks on issues of employment and disabilities to various groups, including the NADD, Vermont Parent Information Center and the Learning Disabilities Association of Canada. She’s available for interviews and speaking engagements.
She has a master’s degree in library science, combining research skills with her clear, engaging writing style to create a professional product that is accurate and delivered on time.
